The heavy oak doors of the radiology suite didn’t just keep out the noise; they kept out the world. Inside, Dr. Sarah Jenkins sat in the soft blue glow of six high-resolution monitors, her eyes tracing the delicate, branching rivers of a patient’s cerebral arteries. "Tea's getting cold, Sarah," a voice crackled over the intercom. It was Marcus, the head nurse. "Just a few more minutes, Marcus," she replied, her voice steady despite the sixteen hours she’d already put in. "I think I found the leak." She clicked through the frames. There it was—a microscopic bulge, no thicker than a thread. Most would have missed it, but Sarah didn't believe in "most." She was one of the first women in the UK to serve as a consultant interventional neuroradiologist, and she believed in the quiet persistence of looking until the truth revealed itself. An hour later, she finally stepped into the breakroom. She didn't talk about the save. Instead, she sat down, picked up her cold tea, and asked Marcus about his daughter’s piano recital. "You're a beacon, you know that?" Marcus said, leaning against the counter. "The junior docs—they watch how you treat people. Not just the patients, but us. It matters." Sarah looked out the window at the gray Glasgow skyline. She knew the weight of the white coat could be crushing, but she also knew that as long as there was music in the car on the way home and a hand to hold in the hallway, the light wouldn't go out. She smiled, took a sip of the bitter tea, and started planning the playlist for her band's next gig at King Tut's.
Join us for an evening of live music and community as we celebrate the life of Dr. Sarah Jenkins. Featuring a special performance by her former bandmates, this fundraiser aims to shine a light on the mental health challenges faced by healthcare professionals. All proceeds will go directly to the Tribute Fund for Sarah in aid of Samaritans, supporting their vital work in suicide prevention and emotional support. The night will include a silent auction of local Glasgow art and a short keynote on improving workplace culture within the NHS
Sharing with your network could help take it further. Every share counts.

All donations go directly to the project. A effort. never receives funds.
